X-Rays are Likely

To do that, our team of experts will usually start your child’s dental appointment by taking a set of pain-free X-rays to ensure your child’s teeth and jaw are developing correctly. We allow you to come into the X-ray area with your child while the pictures are taken, but for safety reasons, with the radiation from the X-rays, we will have you stand right outside the door while the X-rays are taking place. Rest assured; your child will be protected from radiation the entire time with a lead apron.
Routine Teeth Cleaning
During every routine visit (once every six months) at Montefiore Medical Center, your child will have a dental cleaning with one of our highly experienced dental hygienists. During the cleaning, we will remove any tartar and plaque from your child’s teeth to prevent tooth decay and gum disease. You will be allowed to be with your child the entire time, and if your child is very young, we may ask that you hold them in your lap for the duration of the cleaning.
Exam By Our Pediatric Dentist
One of our pediatric dentists will review your child’s X-rays and then use dental tools to take a look at your child’s teeth. If there are any concerns about the teeth, the dentist will go over them with you, and the usual treatment is. During this time, you can ask the dentist any questions.
